Lesson On Swelling Solution

Sam stood up form her chair with a smile and welcomed her class. "Hello Class" She said and took her potions book. "Everyone take out your potions book and turn to page 26. We will be learning about swelling solution. Swelling Solution causes something to get bigger and it contains puffer fish eyes. It also contains salamander blood. Can anyone tell me what the antidote to swelling solution is?" she asked the class "I have wrote the directions on the board"she told them. The board read:

1.Begin with 1 cup of water

2. add 6 puffer fish eyes but becareful

3. add one pint of salamander blood

4. stir counter clockwise until your potion has turned a milky pink
If it has turned blue you have stirred to long.

6. Now add Hellebore until your potions turns green
if your potion has turned yellow you have added to much

7. Now stir clockwise until it is a milky blue and then you have your potion.

"Class once you have finished you shall hand in your potions and then you can start on your homework. Your homework is to write a one paragraph essay on how to make swelling sollution, in your own words, say what the antidote is, and tell me the main ingrediants" she told the class

*main ingridiants are puffer fish eyes and salamander blood but i made up the salamander blood*

Layla listened and then started on her potion. First she added 1 cup of water. The she added 6 puffer fish eyes. She also added one pint of salamander blood. Then Layla stired counter clockwise until her potion turned a milky pink. Also she added Hellebore until her potions turned green. Now she stired clockwise until it is was milky blue and then she had her potion. Yes, I did it right she said to herself. The she got up and turned it in to Miss Teathers.

**I don't want to post it again so Ryan and Chris all had the same potions, but the post would have just been worded differently**

Kira's hand shot up in the air she knew the answer was deflating draught. She was also getting her cauldron prepared as her hand was in the air. She took out her salamander blood and puffer fish eyes but was careful not to get any onto her skin so she wore her gloves of dragon hide. She then stirred counter clockwise until the potion turned a milky pink. Next she added Hellebore until her potion turned green and then stirred counter clockwise until it turned blue. "I did it" she though and she turned it into Miss Teathers

Sam saw Kira's hand and then nodded. "Yes Kira?" she asked Kira hoping she knew the answer

Kira put her hand down. "The antidote to Swelling solution is Deflating Draught" Kira said as she added 1 cup of water and 6 puffer fish eyes.

Miss Teather took Kira and Layla's Potions. They where both perfect. "Great work you two. Five points to Gryiffindor twenty to Ravenclaw and Ten to hufflepuff. Now everyone get started on your homework" she told them.

*Cedric and Cho got the same as Kira and also ravenclaw got 20 because kira got the right answer.*

Layla went back to her sit and started on her paragraph essay.

The Swelling Solution causes something to get bigger. Here is how you make it: Frist step is to put one cup of water in your potion bottle.Then add six Puffer Fish eyes but I would becareful if I were you. Also add one pint of salamander blood, and stir counter clockwise until your potion has turned a light pink. If it has turned blue you have stirred your potion to long. Then add Hellebore until your potions turns green, if your potion has turned yellow you have added way too much to your potion. Last, but not least stir your potion clockwise until it is a baby blue and there... You have your potion!

Kira worked on her homework and she started her essay. Her essay:


Swelling Solution By Kira

Swelling sloution makes a person swell wherever it touches. The antidote is Deflating Drought and the main ingreidiants are puffer fish eyes, hellebore, and salaander blood. How you make it is begin with 1 cup of water and then add 6 puffer fish eyes but becareful because puffer fish eyes can cause massive swelling and the antidote is painful. Next you add one pint of salamander blood. You then stir counter clockwise until your potion has turned a milky pink
andit has turned blue you have stirred to long. You now add Hellebore until your potions turns green.If your potion has turned yellow you have added to much. Last stir clockwise until it is a milky blue. This is how to make swelling solution.

Miss Teather collected there homework and read through it. "Very nicely written. You two may now read pages 30-35 about Deflating Drought" Sam said and she gave them both o's "Five points to gryffindor 15 to ravenclaw and 10 to hufflepuff" she told them.

Ryan walked up to Miss Teathers and asked "Can I turn in my homework now?"

"Yes I'll take it and thats 10 points for ravenclaw. Good job Ryan you get an A" she told him once she read his homework. "Now everyone after you finish your class work and reading your text book I would like you to work on your essay on the deflating draught. If you run out of time don't worry its not due untill tomorrow so its homework." said Miss Teathers.

Kira got to work on her essay and she read about the deflating draught. "Uh Miss Teathers, can you write on the board how to create the deflating draught?" asked Kira

Miss Teather nodded and wrote the following.


1. Star with half a cup of water.

2. Add the powder of a moonstone and stir counter clockwise 20 times. Your potion should turn a slight red. If it turns pink you have stirred to many times and must add more moonstone powder.

3. Add the syrup of a hellebore until your potion turns a deep purple. If it turns indigo you have added to much.

4. Now stir clockwise 34 times and your potion will turn a light green. It will be blue if you stir to long

5. Now add lovage and your potion will turn a deep pink. If it turns light red you have added to much.

6. Next add your set of dragon scales and your potion will turn a deep red.

7. Now stir counter clockwise exactly 63 times and your potion should be a light indigo.

*Main ingreidiants are syrup of hellebore, powerdered moonstone, dragon scales, and lovage*

Raya boredly stirred her potion in her cauldron after placing all the ingredients in her cauldron. The potion soon turned a light, creamy pink. Then she gracefully raised a pale hand to drop Hellebore in the draught. It turned green. Sickly green. Raya Lestrange shrugged and started to stir clockwise. It was a creamy blue and she sighed. "Correct again." Then she called to the teacher, "Professor. I finished."

Raein's potion was black. Black! Not blue, not purple, not halipaloosa!, BLACK!
"Did I stir it too long?" she muttered, leaning over her potion and cautiously sniffing it. The Hufflepuff instantly recoiled and held her hands in front of her face. "Professor!" Lupin cried. "What did I do wrong?!"

Kathryn O'Donnoly was very serious and silent as she leaned precariously over her cauldron.

The potion was a milky pink, like strawberry milk her parents used to make her as a young child.

...YES! Again! I did it!
Kathryn leapt to her feet, almost knocking her cauldron over and spilling the perfect potion. "Professor! Professor, I got it!" she clapped her hands and bounced on the balls of her heels in glee.
